Your Mess is Perfect: 7/22
From the journal July 2022:
Too many of us are taught that we must be perfecto to be loved, yes, perfecto, perfect, flawless, without flaw, without fault, and this is a lie, a grand illusion, a misconception that we must dismantle. I want to remind you that you are lovable in your mess, in your chaos, in your beautiful, tangled existence. Love does not demand perfection; love embraces the imperfect, the raw, the real. Your art is lovable in its mess, in its mess, in its spontaneity, in its deviation from the ideal. Each brushstroke, each word, each note carries with it the essence of you, the essence of your humanity. Your creations may not be as you envisioned, they may not fit into the tidy boxes we often try to place them in, but they are needed, they are very needed. They are the expression of your soul, the reflection of your experiences, the manifestation of your feelings.
We live in a world that often prizes perfection, that rewards the polished, the pristine, the curated. But what of the beauty found in the unfinished, the beauty found in the raw emotion, the beauty found in the struggle? It is in the mess that true artistry emerges, it is in the mess that authenticity thrives. The imperfections, the quirks, the unexpected turns—they all contribute to the richness of your expression, the depth of your creation. Remember, your art does not need to be perfect to resonate, to connect, to inspire. It does not need to fit the mold to be meaningful. What matters is the heart behind it, the intention, the passion, the truth that pours forth from your being. Your creations are a testament to your journey, to your exploration, to your willingness to be vulnerable in a world that often seeks to conceal flaws.
So, embrace the mess, embrace the mess of your life, embrace the mess of your creations. Allow yourself to be seen in all your glorious imperfections. Allow your art to be a reflection of your journey, of your struggles, of your triumphs. For it is in that embracing, in that acceptance, that you find freedom, find joy, find the power of self-love. You are lovable in your mess, and your art is lovable in its mess. It is needed, so very needed, as it speaks to the shared human experience, as it bridges the gaps between souls, as it reminds us that we are all wonderfully imperfect beings navigating this complex tapestry of existence. Your voice matters, your vision matters, your truth matters, and it is all perfect in its own beautifully messy way.
