Don’t Ignore the Hunch:1/23

From the journal January 2023:

When was the last time you created something based on an idea that unexpectedly stopped by? It is a question, a simple question, but oh how profound it is. When did that idea arrive, that fleeting thought, that spark of inspiration that danced its way into your mind like a firefly in the twilight? What was it? What was it, indeed? A whisper, a notion, a flash of brilliance that ignited the imagination, that beckoned you to follow it down a winding path.

Where did it lead you? Ah, the journey of the idea, the path of creation is rarely straight, no, it is a meandering river, a winding road full of surprises, twists, and turns. The idea, once captured, takes on a life of its own, leading you to places you might not have anticipated. It could be a painting, a poem, a melody, a thought that blooms into something vibrant and alive. It leads you, it pulls you, it demands to be explored, to be expressed, to be brought into the world.

Do you ever ignore the hunch? The hunch that tickles at the back of your mind, that nudges you gently, urging you to pay attention? How many ignored hunches does it take before you don’t get a hunch anymore? It is a mystery, a puzzle wrapped in enigma. Hunches are like whispers from the universe, like the wind rustling through leaves, like a gentle tap on the shoulder. But what happens when you turn away? What happens when you dismiss that call?

Is it witchcraft, this act of creation? Perhaps it is, perhaps it is not. Perhaps it is simply the magic of being alive, the alchemy of thought and feeling swirling together to produce something new, something unexpected. It is the spark of the divine, the essence of being, the human experience laid bare.

Do you write them down? I love me a hunch, and I’m certainly not one to deny its birthright. No, I celebrate it, I cherish it, I cradle it close. I write it down, I capture it like a butterfly in a net, preserving its beauty, its essence, its fleeting nature. Each hunch is a gift, a blessing, a chance to create, a chance to explore the realms of possibility.

And so, when that unexpected idea stops by, when it knocks gently at the door of your consciousness, you must answer. You must embrace it, invite it in, let it lead you on a journey of creation. For it is in those moments, those magical instances of inspiration, that you find your voice, your truth, your power.

The last time you created something based on an idea, it was a moment of connection, a moment of clarity, a moment of magic. And in that creation, you are reminded of the beauty of existence, the wonder of thought, and the joy of bringing something new into the world. So do not ignore the hunch, no, celebrate it, nurture it, and let it guide you to places unknown. For in the dance of creation, life unfolds, and you are at the center, the heart, the very essence of it all.
