I Am A Maker:5/24

From the journal May 2024:

I am a maker. This simple declaration resonates deeply within me, echoing through the chambers of my heart like a song that refuses to be silenced. Today, I want to honor this truth, to wrap it in the warm embrace of intention and understanding. I am not just dabbling or playing at creativity; I am engaging with it on a profound level, making a conscious choice to connect with the essence of what it means to create.

In a world that often demands productivity over passion, I find solace in the act of making. It is a sacred ritual, one that allows me to tap into the wellspring of my imagination and channel my experiences into something tangible. Whether I am writing, painting, or exploring new forms of expression, each moment spent in this creative space feels like a love letter to myself—a reminder that I am worthy of pursuing joy through creation.

Being intentional about my creativity means acknowledging the struggle that sometimes accompanies it. I am aware of the whispers of doubt that creep in, urging me to question my abilities, my choices, and my worth as an artist. But today, I choose to silence those voices. I choose to honor the courage it takes to create, to embrace the uncertainty that comes with each brushstroke or word written. I am learning to see all the beauty in the process, to understand that every misstep is simply a part of my journey.

As I sit here, pen in hand, I can feel the connection to my creativity growing stronger. It is as if I am opening a door to a room filled with light and possibility. I remind myself that this is not just a fleeting moment; it is a commitment to myself and to the art I wish to create. I am actively choosing to show up for my creativity, to nurture it, and to allow it to flourish.

I honor the maker within me by exploring new ideas, pushing boundaries, and allowing myself the freedom to experiment without judgment. Each creation is an exploration of my inner world—a reflection of my thoughts, emotions, and experiences. And as I engage in this process, I feel a sense of connection not only to myself but to the larger tapestry of humanity. My art is an invitation for others to see their own reflections, their own stories, within the layers of my work.

I promise to honor this journey, to cherish the moments spent in the act of creation, and to embrace the imperfections that come with it. I recognize that it is in the messy, unpredictable nature of making that I find true beauty—the beauty of being alive, of experiencing joy, and of sharing my unique voice with the world.

Today, I commit to being fully present in my creativity, to honoring the process, and to celebrating the maker I am becoming. Each day is a new opportunity to connect, to explore, and to create. And for that, I am profoundly grateful.
